A beautiful French shallot – pinky-brown, sweet, mild, and perfect for cooking. This eschalion or banana shallot can produce a copious harvest the first year if planted early. Excellent keepers. Delicious cooked and scrumptious fresh in salads and vinaigrettes.
- 250 seeds minimum
- Germination: 10-21 days
- Maturity: 100 days from transplant
- Direct sow ¼” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked. In northern climates, start indoors 8 weeks before last frost date. Plant multiple seeds in each container. Harden off seedlings before planting.
- Plant 2 seeds per inch in rows 12-18” apart. Thin to 4-6” apart for larger onions. To transplant, separate young plants and set 4-6” apart.
