This French favorite was developed in the mid-19th century by Vilmorin-Andrieux, a storied seed company co-founded by the chief botanist to King Louis XV. Sweet, uniform and ideal for dense soil, the Scarlet Nantes also stores and freezes well.
- 300 seeds minimum
- Germination: 14-28 days
- Maturity: 70 days
- Direct sow first crop as soon as soil can be worked in early spring. Gently press scattered seeds into loosened soil. Resow in late summer for a fall crop.
- Plant in full sun and water consistently.
- Space plants 2-3” apart in rows 12” apart.
