If you’re looking for a flavorful, meaty tomatillo, Rio Grande fits the bill! Hefty fruits weigh 3-4 ounces and grow on sturdy vines that reach 2-4’ tall. These giant sweet-tart tomatillos are excellent for salsa verde. Grilled or roasted fruits make a delicious complement for chicken and seafood.
- 30 Seeds Minimum
- Germination: 7-14 days
- Maturity: 85-90 days
- Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant 1/4" deep in seed starting mix. Requires soil temperatures of 75-85F to germinate. Heating mat is recommended. Keep moist.
- Harden off and transplant in full sun when all danger of frost has passed. Bury deep, planting the entire stem leaving only top leaves above ground.
- Space plants 24” apart; space rows 24-36” apart.
