An old and extremely rare variety, Red Seeded Citron is naturally high in pectin and has historically been used for making preserves, pickles, and sweetmeats in France and the US. With dense green flesh and an exceptionally hard rind, this variety is typically harvested in late fall and can be stored for 8-12 months. 3-5 pound fruit, vigorous grower.
- 25 seeds minimum
- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 90-100 days
- Direct sow ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon seedlings prefer not to be disturbed; direct sow is suggested.
- Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.
