Burdock (Arctium lappa)
Burdock is a robust plant producing tall stalks, large heart-shaped leaves, clusters of purple flowers and burr-covered fruit. Its root is eaten as a vegetable, consumed as tea, and used as a medicinal herb. Burdock contains inulin, a natural dietary fiber, and is high in antioxidants.
- 150 seeds minimum
- Germination: 7-15 days
- Cold stratify seeds (4 weeks) for optimal performance, then direct sow 1/8” deep in full sun/part shade after last frost. Plant in loose, well-drained soil. Sandy loam is best for optimal root development.
- Space plants 24-36” apart; space rows 24” apart.
