This Italian heirloom thrives in the cooler temperatures of spring and fall but is not frost hardy. Palla Rosa’s purple-red leaves are tangy and bitter fresh from the garden but much sweeter when braised, roasted, or sautéed. At maturity crisp, round heads are approximately 4” diameter.
