Also known as French or Mountain Spinach, this red-leaved vegetable is a member of the amaranth family. Use this delicious heirloom as you would spinach, sautéed or fresh from the garden. Valued as a medicinal plant and used as a natural dye. Ruby Red Orach grows best in cool temperatures but can tolerate some heat. Plants reach 4-8’ tall.
- 150 Seeds Minimum
- Germination: 7-14 days
- Maturity: 28 days for baby leaf; 40 days mature leaf
- Direct sow deep ½” in full sun as soon as soil can be worked. Plant again in late summer for a fall harvest.
- Space plants 6-8” apart; space rows 18-30” apart.
