These ruby, oval onions are bright and pungent when harvested young, rich, and sweet at maturity. We love Red Long of Florence raw in salads and relishes, pickled, and caramelized with roasted veggies. Enjoy fresh from the garden; this variety does not store well.
- 150 seeds minimum
- Germination: 10-21 days
- Maturity: 90 days from transplant
- Direct sow 1/8” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked. In northern climates, start indoors 8 weeks before last frost date. Plant multiple seeds into each container. Harden off seedlings before planting.
- Plant 2 seeds per inch in rows 12-18” apart. Thin to 4-6” apart for larger onions. To transplant, separate young plants and set 4-6” apart.
