Product Description
This heirloom watermelon originated in Montrose, Iowa, in 1950 when Chris Christensen crossed the Hawksbury and Dixie Queen watermelons. Well-suited for cooler climates, the Chris Cross watermelon grows to 15 to 20 lbs. This melon has dark green stripes and moderately sweet, deep red flesh.

- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 85-90 days
- Direct sow ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon seedlings prefer not to be disturbed; direct sow is suggested.
- Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.
