An iconic Italian heirloom also called Bassano. Slice open the fuchsia root to glimpse its bright bullseye pattern, and enjoy its mellow sweetness cooked fresh or pickled. Use this versatile beet’s green tops in lieu of spinach or chard.
- 200 seeds minimum
- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 50 days
- Direct sow ½” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked.
- Sow 12-15 seeds per foot; thin to 3" apart when seedlings are 1-2" tall. Plant rows 12" apart.
- Plant again in late summer for a fall harvest.
