Hairy Vetch is an excellent choice for nitrogen fixation and an efficient solution for weed control. Winter Rye is the hardiest of winter cover crops, protecting the less-hardy vetch while halting erosion and adding organic matter to the soil. This powerhouse grass and legume combination is best planted in late summer or early fall. Regrows vigorously in spring. Cut and turn after vetch flowers in the spring. 75% rye and 25% vetch.
