Stunning scarlet carrots are surprisingly sweet and crisp. Long roots reach 10-12” in length; ruby color develops as they reach half length. This revered Japanese heirloom is delectable fresh from the garden, roasted, steamed, and pickled. Freezes well after blanching. Best planted in fall.
- 300 seeds minimum
- Germination: 12-18 days
- Maturity: 70-90 days
- Direct sow in late summer-early fall. Gently press scattered seeds into loosened soil. Resow in late summer for a fall crop.
- Plant in full sun and water consistently.
- Space plants 2-3” apart in rows 12” apart.
- Prefers cooler temps.
