Developed by Florida seed expert Melville Dillon in the 1940s, this massive melon can reach weights of over 50 lbs. One of the most popular large watermelons, Florida Giant has a dark green rind and firm, delicious red flesh.
- 25 seeds minimum
- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 80-85 days
- Direct sow ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon seedlings prefer not to be disturbed; direct sow is suggested.
- Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.
