Introduced in 1944, this popular heirloom is a parent to many of the super sweet onion varieties including the Vidalia. Early Texas Grano is a delectable onion with yellow skin and tender white flesh. Perfect for southern and western gardeners. Intermediate to short day.
- 250 seeds minimum
- Germination: 10-21 days
- Maturity: 180 days from transplant
- Direct sow 1/8” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked. In northern climates, start indoors 8 weeks before last frost date. Plant multiple seeds into each container. Harden off seedlings before planting.
- Plant 2 seeds per inch in rows 12-18” apart. Thin to 4-6” apart for larger onions. To transplant, separate young plants and set 4-6” apart.
