Originating in Vertus, France in the 1800s, this turnip variety has long, cylindrical roots of 5 to 6 inches in length. This early, multi-purpose turnip has a crisp sweetness and fine grain. A delicious complement to a variety of dishes, the de Vertus Marteau is excellent either roasted or mashed.
