A delectable Danish heirloom also known as Formanova. With a long, cylindrical shape, this dark red favorite is excellent for slicing. Sweet, rich, and simple to peel, cylindra is particularly productive in smaller spaces because its roots grow downward not sideways. Easy to grow.
- 200 seeds minimum
- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 50 days
- Direct sow ½” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked.
- Sow 12-15 seeds per foot; thin to 3" apart when seedlings are 1-2" tall. Plant rows 12" apart.
- Plant again in late summer for a fall harvest

Love these beets!
These beets were perfect for my small raised bed garden. This was my first try at beets and I'll never forget them again. Great flavor, germinated well and have superb greens. The only drawback I had was the variance in sizes. They're not big beets but some were really small. That could have been something I did so I won't blame the beets. I will still grow these again, regardless of the size.
