This popular heirloom yielding large, sugary beets hails from Germany not Egypt. Crosby Egyptian matures early in the season and stores very well. Richly flavored roots are great for pickling, roasting, or steaming; greens are crisp and delicious.
- 150 seeds minimum
- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 55 days
- Direct sow ½” deep in full sun as soon as soil can be worked.
- Sow 12-15 seeds per foot; thin to 3" apart when seedlings are 1-2" tall. Plant rows 12" apart.
- Plant again in late summer for a fall harvest.
