Product Description
This vigorous southern favorite was developed by the University of Arkansas and released in 1968. Grows well in extreme conditions – high heat, humidity, even drought. Expect exceptional flavor with a perfect balance of sweet and tart. Some disease resistance.
- 25 seeds minimum
- Germination: 7-10 days
- Maturity: 85 days
- Start indoors 6 weeks before the last frost. Plant 1/4" deep in seed starting mix. Requires soil temperatures of 75-85F to germinate. Heating mat is recommended. Keep soil moist.
- Harden off and transplant in full sun when all danger of frost has passed. Bury deep, planting the entire stem leaving only top leaves above ground.
- Space plants 2-3' apart; space rows 3-4' apart.

Top Performer This Year
This year, a very dry one in Tennessee, I had Cherokee Purples, Italian Heirlooms, German Johnson and Arkansas Traveler. Others did well, but the Travelers were my favorite. Ripened to the stem, small core and a great taste. Prolific, too.
